Information for new employers

Employing a foreign caregiver at home - costs.

  1. Permit application fee (once in 4 years): 300 NIS
  2. Dependency assessment fee (for those who are not entitled to a free assessment of dependency by social security): 290 NIS
  3. Visa registration fee (usually once a year): 175 NIS
  4. Care / contract ₪ 600 (handling costs of notary and sent abroad)
  5. Placement fee ₪ 1750 + VAT=2000 NIS, no additional charge in case we replace the caregiver during first year of placement.
  6. Corporation fees: 60 NIS + VAT=70 NIS per month
  7. National Insurance fees: 2% of the difference between the minimum wage (5,300 NIS) and the Nursing agency wages, and only if the difference is higher than 3,000 NIS
  8. Medical insurance fees (Clalit, full coverage by law) : monthly around 250 NIS
  9. Acceptable monthly wage per employee (after taking into account residence + food etc.) 4200-4500 NIS for a single patient.
  10. A regular weekly allowance: 100 NIS in cash every Friday morning. even if the caregiver didn't stay.
  11. Wages for live-out times: during hospitalize up to - 8 hr/ day only. In addition to the usual salary, employer has to pay the caregiver a refund of travels as well as for reasonable costs of food and drink per day (approximately 60 NIS or delivering meals-not hospitel food), employer should allow Accommodation at the employer's home or pay rent. Overtime: two first hours (over 8) according to 36 NIS per hour and each additional hour beyond that: according to 43 NIS per hour.
  12. Nine holidays per year: 25 hours, starting the evening before, according to the employee's holiday list, or exchange of 360 NIS for stay.
  13. For the weekend - 25 hours, including rest day per employee according to his religion, or payment of 360 NIS
  14. Annual leave - will be paid according to seniority, currently the rate is 212 NIS per day, (first 4 Years)
  15. Recuperations: paid after full year of continuous work. First year 5 days, 378 p/day.
  16. Pension fund savings – it is recommended to save for pension and severance pay, every month at least 650 NIS. employee is entitled for that after 6 months of work.

The gap between pay expenses for the resignation is encouraging employees not to leave an employer due to deterioration of his condition / age.

Attention:

Employers' financial rights might come from – Bituah-Leumi, Kupat Holim, private nursing insurance, IDF families support office, SHOA fund.

Caregivers that ask for a loan – it is suggested to agree only for the amount that has already been accumulated. In any case, there is no obligation to grant a loan.

Rights and obligations of the parties

Employee's duties (employer's rights)

  1. Attendance at the employer, Providence.
  2. Accompanying outdoors, doctors, club etc.
  3. Personal care of employer if needs bathing, diapering, feeding, etc.
  4. Keep clean environment for the employer, hygiene and home cleaning, nurturing environment for the patient.
  5. Employer care, washing and dressing, shopping, preparing food.
  6. Preventing atrophy- walking outdoors, recommended exercises, physiotherapy.
  7. Cooperation with therapists - Filling guidelines of his doctors, nurses etc.
  8. adhering to the diet recommended by the doctor.
  9. Rigor and responsibility for drugs according to the instructions.
  10. Reporting to the contact person any problem / change.
  11. Call for help in an emergency (panic button, etc.)
  12. Keeping a pleasant atmosphere, and benefiting the patient's quality of life as much as possible.
  13. The employer will receive full protection from harming / all other mistreatment, may certainly install cameras at home.

caregivers' rights (these are the employer's obligations)

  1. Wage and its components paid on time and always by deposit to caregiver's account
  2. The employee receives from the employer suitable residence; three meals a day, considering his personal food such as vegetarian etc., employer will also provide Internet, cable TV / satellite.
  3. The employee will be allowed to prepare / coock his meals.
  4. The employee may use the washing machine separately for his laundry, once a week.
  5. The employee will usually get a two hrs break for resting, and eight hours of sleep at night.
  6. The employee would receive full protection against ill-treatment, sexual harassment, violence and so on.
  7. Once a year or two, we recommend considering a possible request to grant the employee a visit abroad.
  8. A good word of assessment.
