Live out Caregivers

Many employers who are in a pre-stage of losing independence at some level, are looking for a solution. On one hand they need help, and on the other hand not yet mentally prepared to put a stranger at home 24 \ 7 while not yet always necessary. Many seniors are looking for a solution of a foreign worker without accommodation because it's really the ideal solution for them. Unfortunately employing foreign nannies without accommodation is illegal. In the past it was possible to obtain a special license to a foreign worker without accommodation but now it is no longer allowed. As befits creative people who are looking for a solution to every problem, in this situation you can hire an Israeli worker per hour. Of course it is much more expensive solution than hiring a foreign worker, but sometimes it's a necessary intermediate step.

Legal requirement is that the employer must provide room and board and hire his caregiver full-time at least. This requirement is integrated with a number of governmental trends such as reducing foreign settlement in Israel and encouraging the employment of Israelis in the nursing field. The current standard practice is to employ and give a residence in the employer's house.

On one hand, employers are highly dependent on others and need supervision full day presence of worker, often forced to use the services at night as well. The therapist has the great responsibility and he is expected to be alert, keep an eye always and pay close attention to his patient.

Patient and family are anxious every moment in any moment of worker's vacation or even a break and the presence instills in them a certain calm.

On the other hand, the foreign workers, they usually prefer to save their money and avoid payments of residence and taxes, electricity, etc., as well as daily travel expenses and loss of time involved in it, expenses of food and drink, hang out day and night going in and out of the house, even in the darkness and in bad weather conditions.

It happens that employers ask to hire a live out worker for various reasons. The apartment is too small, or other family members live in the apartment and there is no room available for a worker.

There are also foreign workers who apply for a job without accommodation, live out, they call it. It is likely that these are the people who have spouses in Israel and therefore prefer without accommodation. Or may have received a job offer at the same time to look after sick at night and sleep next to the patient.

Even if some government special committee would approve the employment of a foreign caregiver without accommodation, they would probably demand the employer to fund beyond regular expenses, costs of the rent of the therapist on all that they entail, municipal taxes, electricity, water, etc. and the cost of shopping dining and fees the employee's daily transportation expenses.

Clearly won't be granted any reduction in the monthly minimum wages in Israel.

All these make the whole business not profitable. If we take into account the cheapest amounts might happen actually, say 5300 minimum wage, rent 2500, rates 500, taxes to the building, etc. 500, medical insurance 280, food and drink 1500, the city tax 300, we come to 9800 nis. In reality everything is much more expensive.

For sum of 9800 NIS and less, Employers can find many good Israeli workers who will be glad to provide 8 hours of work including travel fees.
